The mix of reggaeton with pop music has not only brought attention back to this genre but also to Latin music generally. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four in 2016. In the height of Despacito's success in 2017, 19 songs mainly composed in Spanish reached at the very top of 100. The number grew to 41 by 2020. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) famous musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation like Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music as well as other forms.
